Winter break is coming to an end and then comes a fresh start to a new academic semester. A new semester is a new start to a positive and successful season! Starting a semester with a positive mindset is so important and can pan out how smoothly it will go. Below are a few things that I try each new semester that can improve my academic and learning skills for the future.
Pick up new study habits. Each semester I like to try and pick up some new study habits that I feel will advance my knowledge and pace of learning.
Another thing I like to do is reflect on prior semesters and take what I learned and what worked for me and carry it into new ones. Learning from previous semesters is going to shape how you do in the future, taking and acknowledging what didn't work for you and where you went wrong, and were successful is one of the best things you can do to find how you learn best.
Writing a schedule and prioritizing your studies, making time every day to review. In college, it is super easy to get off track and prioritize different things, one of the biggest being your social calendar. There aren't parents and teachers around all the time on top of your work for you, and helping you get through. One of the biggest things that your learning in college is the responsibility, time management, making time for the things that matter and you care about. Realizing that you are spending thousands of dollars academics and to get good grades, being in greek life can make this more important to realize than people think. I personally am not in greek life, but I have seen where people's priorities have changed from it.
Staying motivated and driven. This is another tough one, that is easier said than done. It is important to be able to stay motivated when you are up to our neck in work and exams. Small things can go a long way with this one, some small things that I do to help me to stay motivated and driven when times get tough are writing myself small notes that I can see every day to keep me going. Taking time each day to go for a walk, meditate, journaling and writing is a great thing to do also, and I've found that it helps me to really stay driven and keep my head in the right place.
Thank You for reading, hope you enjoyed.
