Navigating Health in Your 20s

As I move through my early and mid-20s, I’ve realized how overwhelming this stage of life can feel. There’s emotion, change, uncertainty, and what I half-jokingly call “crisis.” Even though our 20s are technically too young for a “crisis,” society, family, and career pressures often expect us to instantly have things figured out. The truth? Most of us don’t. We’re navigating some of the biggest transitions we’ll ever face—starting our careers, trying to maintain relationships, managing responsibilities, and learning how to take care of ourselves while also imagining what our future might look like.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is understanding what’s truly worth investing in. It’s so easy to get swept up by TikTok trends, influencer ads, or quick-fix health claims. Doing my own research—focusing on credible studies and understanding what I’m putting into and onto my body—has become a priority. Yes, whole foods and preventative care can be “expensive,” but long-term health problems are far more costly, in every sense of the word.
1. Chiropractic Care
One of my consistent monthly investments is visiting a chiropractor. I truly believe everyone can benefit from at least one evaluation. Alignment matters—your spine, posture, and even leg length can affect how your body carries stress. Chiropractic adjustments have helped me release tension in ways I didn’t even know I was holding it, and over time, my body has learned to respond naturally to those corrections.
2. Acupuncture
Another treatment I swear by is acupuncture. If you’re in my life, you already know how much it has changed me. After my first session, I slept deeply for an entire week. My stress dropped. My joint pain eased. While many people today turn immediately to pharmaceuticals for convenience, acupuncture has reminded me that holistic options can be powerful too. They won’t replace medical care when it’s needed, but they can absolutely complement it and support overall well-being.
3. Red Light Therapy
I also invest in red light therapy—both at a sauna monthly and through a mask I use daily at home. Some research, including studies from Stanford, suggests potential benefits for hair growth and skin aging. While results vary from person to person, I’ve found it to be a calming and rejuvenating addition to my routine.
4. A Gym That Feels Like an Investment in Myself
I choose to pay for a luxury gym because I use everything it offers: cycling, HIIT, yoga, Pilates, barre, a saltwater pool, and full spa amenities like cupping and deep tissue massage. I also regularly use the ice bath, jacuzzi, and steam room.
Exercise is one of the most evidence-backed tools for improving mood, regulating stress, and increasing longevity. Cold exposure, like ice baths, can boost metabolism and support recovery, while steam rooms may help with circulation and respiratory function. You don’t need an expensive gym to be healthy—what matters is finding a space that supports your goals, whether that’s weights, classes, a pool, or simply a place that makes you want to show up.
The most important part is knowing what you want out of your health journey and taking that first step, whatever it looks like.
