How to Stay Healthy This Summer​

For me, the summer season is such a hard and difficult time to stay healthy. From taking care of my skin to watching my diet and what I am putting in my body it is such a struggle for me. This is because, despite peoples belief that in the summer it is easy to stay healthy since there is the motivation of bathing suits and warmer weather, it is actually harder. Staying healthy is usually harder in the summer since of the extremely hot weather we are constantly needing to be refueled and refreshed, the yummy foods at parties and barbecues do not always help either. I am going to share some obvious ways and some hidden tips on how to stay healthy this summer!



Sunscreen

This is such an obvious product to use to stay healthy and keep your skin safe, however so many people fail to apply this daily or at all when they go into the sun. Reasons such as wanting to be tan and get color are leading people to forget how important this step is for your skin. Not applying sunscreen can lead to severe burns, sun cancer and very much dehydrate you. You are more likely to get a better tan and a healthy amount of color for your skin when you apply sunscreen when you are in the sun. I personally put sunscreen on even when I am not in the sun since it is in my moisturizer because it is such a crucial step to ones routine. It is also proven to slow your skins aging process! Anything above 50 SPF is all the same.


Healthier Eating Habits

Summer is full of fun parties and events and all of the yummy but not so healthy food can really catch up with you. Not just dealing with bloating and feel physically insecure, but also just making you not feel your best, low energy and high stress. An easy way to ensure that you are eating healthier and putting better foods into your body is to constantly make sure that you have tons of color on your plate. From fruits to vegetables and proteins it is insanity important to get everything that your body needs especially in the summer when you are needing to be refueled.


Workout

This one can be hard for some people but, workout!! Just the smallest bit of moving each day is amazing for your body, even if it is just taking your dog on a walk around the block. Making excuses about how there is no time, it's hot, your busy, you're tired, are all habits of laziness. Working out is amazing to do in the summertime since the sun is out and you are getting Vitamin D, it is proven that working out on a sunny day or even just being outside can boost one's mood and motivation/ work ethic. Anything in the pool is great exercise and is perfect for summer too.


Rest

This is the hardest one for me in the summer since I want to grind and work all day, and then stay out late and hang out with my friends at night. You have to make a happy medium with this because rest is so important not just for your health but in the summertime since the heat is so bad and we are usually always more dehydrated than normal in the summer, being sleep deaprived does not help. It is important to find a good night to sleep or at least taking naps, getting a good schedule going. Especially if you are someone who works and is going all during the day, also wanting a social life with this can be difficult and during the summertime, it is easy to not prioritize resting even though it is super important.
